1. Issues/policy regarding Message Board implementation on UTA Libraries Online

Issues for consideration :

• Server hosting for library message boards (should library message boards be hosted with the library web site at library.uta.edu?)
• Board registration prior to posting (allow/disallow anonymous posting)
• Moderators
  • Who should be a moderator? What background/experience should they have?
  • Who chooses the moderators?
  • What are the responsibilities of the moderator? What expectations do we have of them?
• Boards/Topics
  • GIS
  • Research Help (?)
  • (Other?)
• Points to include in a policy statement to users

ACTION:

• Host on library.uta.edu
• Registration required. No anonymous posting
• Moderators:
  • Marie will collect some moderator guidelines from other boards
  • We'll set up guidelines to help moderators get started and understand expectations
  • Have a moderators' support group
  • Ways to facilitate conversation, mediate problems, etc
• Limit to library related topics, with possible consideration of non-library topics at some point in the future
• Policy statement:
  • Based on the Northwestern Health Sciences University policy (http://www.nwhealth.edu/web/policyd.html)
  • Add point regarding not allowing the impersonation/co-opting of the identity of another living person
  • Suzanne will prepare a draft
• Aim for presenting draft policy to the May 26th LMT meeting
