1. Offering the DVD list PDF from the web site (Beckett)

Should we also host it? Where do we put it on the site? (See accompanying PDF)

  • A PDF will be out of date very soon.. Even the same day.
  • Someone would have to regularly keep it up to date
  • Can we create a catalog search link (a canned search)?
  • Can we do something with call number range? If we do this, what about the ones that aren't in the PNs?
  • Would be useful as long as we get an update commitment with a specific update interval

          ACTION

  • Where did the DVD cover images come from? Do we have permissions to republish those images? Ask Faedra about the copyright rules we would have to follow. Depending on the outcome… continue to the next bullets
  • Link to it and host it
  • Disclaimer re: update interval and any other content disclaimer
  • Somebody has to be named the "watchdog" to take action if the document is not updated when it's supposed to be
  • There will be an update commitment with update interval
  • And put it where on the site?
  • Research Resources - Find Media (?) .. That includes instuctions (e.g. kind of a guide-type section)
  • Collections - Media (?)
  • Adding "Find Media" to the web site.. An agenda item for another meeting
  • Including.. What types of media to include, etc

 

2. Adding new content/sections to the web site -- how do staff (or program areas, committees, etc.) go about proposing this, developing this, getting their new content/sections integrated into the web site? What are the procedures? What are the channels of communication? Who are the decision makers and what decisions do they make? 

Also note, the WAC site domain is moving... (http://librarystaff.uta.edu/wac/)

3. Link to OneSearch on the home page … Leave it as is?

ACTION

Check with the OneSearch strategy group and unless it's ready to be public, and unless they're ready to solicit general user feedback, and if they're ok, pull the link from the home page, and put it under "O" on the A-Z list page.

And, by the way, put the UT Arlington resources in their proper alphabetical place.

 

4. Offer login to Voyager account link from home page? (see attached email)
 
ACTION

Well, if the OneSearch people agree to take out their home page link, we'll put in  link to "Login: Your Library Account" (link to the WebVoyage login screen) in the place of the current OneSearch link.

 

Next Meeting: Tuesday, November 21, 2006, 1:30-3:00pm, B-29 meeting room - (Thanksgiving week) Beverly will be out, SEL may be getting carpeting so CD would be out, if too many people are out, we'll cancel.
